First Webcomic Benchmark
50 cartoons is generally the first big benchmark for webcomics. And Unearthed Comics reached that great line this week with our Parenting Patience cartoon!!! It is exciting to move from webcomic infancy to webcomic toddler-hood in so little time!
Reflections
Reflecting back on how it has been since my launch in November, Unearthed has grown and matured. The first two months was fun and experimental. It was exciting figuring out what my “groove” is and what funny things really inspire me. I started following some great webcomics to learn a little more about the business and how they interact with the public. I doodled a lot, bringing a journal with me wherever I went. My family would ask why I looked so spaced out all the time; the reality was I was deep in “Comic Space,” finding humor in everything around me.
After the holidays, I felt a need for change. I changed up my characters a bit giving them two faces; this is one of my fine art signatures and I felt it was time to bring this through to my comic world. I created a new, more legible font to help the visually and humor-impaired have a better chance at possibly laughing at my comics. I also changed some of the characters’ eyes and legs just to piss off the people who liked them as they were.
Growth
Through the transformation, Unearthed has grown and is now blossoming. It is getting regular shares on Facebook and mentions on Twitter. But I am always looking for more people to share my creations. A little humor here and there can really help lighten up the world so help me by posting them on your social networks or sharing them on blogs or elsewhere (just simply credit me and add a link back to UnearthedComics.com).
Thanks to my initial team of supporters and here’s to another 50… or possibly 5,000.
